5 Favorite Heroines

So here are the 5 ladies who I most often visualize for my heroines. My heroines are tough, but with a vulnerability which comes from a painful past. These actresses often portray similar roles.

1) Jennifer Garner
She is the quintessential tough heroine with the soft center. Think of Alias and Elektra.
2) Jodi Foster
Many of her roles are those of the ordinary woman who finds herself in an extraordinary postion. Think of Panic Room and The Brave One.
3) Kate Beckinsale
She has a gentle, beautiful face but think of the two Underworld movies - tough and invincible.

4) Jennifer Connelly
She has dreamy eyes that express depth and vulnerability but she is tough at the core. Think of The Day the Earth Stood Still and Blood Diamond.

5) Linda Hamilton
Think of the Terminator movies, especially the second. Who can dispute that she was one of the toughest heroines yet.

There are of course many others, and I'm sure I will use them in the future to create variety, but for now these are my five.
By the way I have my three book covers over on Book Cover Lovers: http://bookcoverlovers.blogspot.com/

Garner would probably be my fav of those here. She's tough but vulnerable, and very smart. Like the way she carries herself.

Foster, I think of as an excellent actress. But there's something there that keeps me at a distance.
Beckinsale is very good.
Connelly always strkes me as a little vapid. Hate to say it, don't know why, but there it is.
Hamilton is one tough cookie. I admire her.

My favorite actress for tough but vulnerable? Unquestionably, first place in my book would go to Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in "Alien". A survivor of the highest order, strong, smart, she laughed, cried, ran for her life, but did what had to be done on a ship full of guys who didn't take her seriously. One ballsy b!tch.

And yay on the book covers. :)

Actually, Raine, I was just finishing the post when I thought of Ripley, and that's why I added that there were others as well. Great minds think alike.
I haven't seen much of Hamilton lately - I guess she's still acting.

Suzanne, I love this list!!! We are kindred spirits once again. It's amazing how we found each other on the Internet. Jennifer Garner had me glued to Alias and I have watched Jodie Foster since she was a child in the movie, Huckleberry Finn.

Linda Hamilton rocks too! I loved her in one of the Terminator movies and also watched her in Beauty and the Beast, which was a television series.

Happy Holidays, dear friend.

I used to watch Beauty and the Beast, Nancy. It was amazing for the atmosphere and that love between her and what was essentially a mutant. There was nothing sexual but it sure was sensual.
