Five Great Italian Locations

This is a post of photos of our last trip to Italy to see the family. I couldn't bring myself to choose my five favourite locations as I have so many.
1) That's me in front of the Colosseum in what is definitely my favourite city in the world - Rome.

2) This is the view from The Republic of San Marino, a tiny country, which is completely surrounded by Italy.

3) My son's girlfriend in the fabulous city of Venice. A more romantic city you can't find anywhere. They all travelled there while I was in Egypt so I missed it this time round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) The Duomo in Milan is the most fantastic cathedral in the world - at least that's my opinion. I have a passion for churches and cathedrals and have seen many all round the world but this is my favourite.
5) My husband's family all live in or near Rimini on the Adriatic coast south of Venice. Here are found wide, white sandy beaches which attract tourists from all over Europe in the summer. This photo of my son and his girlfriend was taken on a windy spring day during an amazing kite festival.

Suzanne, what a lovely post and super photos!!! I was with you on you and your son's trips as I enlarged each photo. :D

The Duomo is a magestic cathedral and I love the architecture!!!

Your son and his girlfriend make a great looking couple. Two gorgeous teens. Your son's girlfriend's photo in Venice belongs in a gallery. How awesome.

Thanks for sharing the fantastic tours. I loooove seeing your photos and reading your posts!!!

Hugs, Nancy..who will send you a scene today.

Lovely photos, Suzanne.
That cathedral is magnificent.

Thanks Nancy. My husband was with us too but couldn't find a relevant photo with him in it. Dario and Alex were approached on the street once and given a modelling agency card with an invitation to an interview.
I look forward to receiving your scene.

Raine, the Duomo in Milan is even more incredible than most because of its location right in the centre of Milan. I know other cathedrals are in the centre too but with this one, you turn a corner and it's suddenly there at the end of a square and it literally takes your breath away. And it does it every time I see it.

I love these posts you do about the places you visit. I get to see them vicariously through you, until someday we grab a flight and take off and visit them personally. Your pictures are beautiful and I would love to see every one of these places someday.

I'm sure you will, Sandpiper. It's very much a matter of wanting to enough and squirreling away the money bit by bit until there's enough. LOL.

That must have been a joyful trip!
Rome and Venice are two unique cities, in every season of the year.
The cathedral of Milan is also a piece of art on its own.
I hope you have been able to see also Leonardo's Last Supper in Santa Maria delle Grazie, not far from the centre of Milan.
If not, you should do that next time, before the fresco fades away completely: the wall on which Leonardo Da Vinci painted it separated the kitchen from the refectory, therefore this wall has been humid for centuries and today compromises the stay of this piece of art.
Enjoy your sunday with the family, Suzanne!

You're right, Diederick, those are two unique cities and I never get enough of them.
I might have seen the Last Supper many years ago but it's all a bit vague. I will make an effort to see it next time. We will also come up to see your area. your photos are inspiring me.

Wonderful photos and commentary, Suzanne! I always look forward to your travel posts.

As I do to yours, Heather. You might be moving around closer to your home but it's all new and exotic to me.

It happens. I visited your country years ago and maybe I missed some unique place. As the same I'm noticing that as lot of tourists do you visited Milano that After Duomo, Santa Maria delle Grazie and Castello Sforzesco it has absolutely nothing that deserves to be visited. Next time you happen to come to your husband's country, please, don't miss: Ferrara, don't miss Mantova, Don't miss all Umbria. You visited Venice and you miss Trieste. Then not last you missed the first Capital of Italy: Torino where the only Museum of the Cinema or the Egyptian Museum or Venaria Reale deserve the trip but being my city I stop here.

Thank you for leaving a comment, Fabrizio.
I actually lived in Torino for 9 years so know it very well. I have also travelled to all the places you mentioned and in particular love Umbria and its hill towns. I have seen much of Italy but there are still many more places I would love to visit. It is a beautiful country.
