My New Website

I worked all Sunday on creating a new sleeker website. I'd love you to go have a look and let me know what you think. Any criticism will be taken into consideration and duly implemented if it fits my vision.

I used to do websites for large corporations and for many small places and for lots of people, like me and you.

I had more websites than Carter had Little Liver Pills and then one day I realized that "websites" are as obsolete as making horseshoes. So I pulled my sites and got my money back from several hosting companies.

If you read the current issue of Time magazine about "comments" you might understand what suddenly dawned on me when I pulled the plug.

I came to thank you for your visits to my blogs and for your comments there. Thanks. Do read that Time magazine.

Hi Abraham. I am very curious as to why you think websites are obsolete and will endeavour to find a Time magazine to read that article.

Hi Suzanne! I think it looks great! The tree at the top is pretty and the stones on the side are nice, too. I love all the pictures you included. The only thing that I might mention is under the "Writing" tab, where you give a little excerpt, with the last one, "Crash Into Darkness" the text shows up as very small for me and it was hard for me to read. It's probably just my bad eyesight. I loved reading about the places where you have traveled!!! What fun!! :)

Thanks for your comments, Lin. I will definitely look at the writing you mentioned. Sometimes the resolution on your computer needs to be increased to make the reading easier. However, I did wonder about it when I wrote it so I should see what I can do. Thanks.

I like it very much!

Love the sort of "zen" quality of the homepage. Verra nice.
I do think the picture might be a bit larger. I like the layout, but there's a bit much white space.
Also, must agree--in the bio and the last blurb on your book page, I had a bit of trouble reading it, the print seemed very small.

And lastly? Honestly? I don't know about making the fact that you're searching for an agent such a notable part of your homepage. I might mention it in the bio, or even on the book page, but not sure it should be right there...

And you're not allowed to hit me, 'coz we're friends. :x

I love your honesty, Raine, and will go correct a few things. On my screen, the website is quite big but at work it is rather small so I think it's all about resolution of the computer screen. I might re-size everything in the weekend and see what happens.
Thanks for your suggestions. Go check again in a few hours and see my changes.

It is the resolution, Suzanne. I think it looks great! but would like to see bigger text too. I love the design. That was fun srufing there!!! Your travel page is special to my heart and also the mention of your books, which I believe in 1000 percent. Your bio ROCKS...but how about a little more!

I am working on my site. Promised to have it up by Saturday. If you type in nancylocke.net at the top, it will take you there, but I am not in the search engines yet.

My life is still crazy, and I have bronchitis in between panic attacks. :D

Wild wave!!!

Thanks for the comments, Nancy. I have increased the size of the writing on the writing page. I hope it's legible now. If you guys change your computer settings to 1024x768, which is one of the most common settings, you will find all websites are larger and more readable.
I went and looked at your website and see it is progressing nicely. I hope we get to see lots of your lovely photos when it's finished.

Breathe deeply - panic attacks are not advisable.

Suzanne, I am trying to find "normal" in my changing world. Right now the only thing I recognize is Jeff. LOL My heart wants this so I will go as far as I can and adjust along the way.

Glad you checked out my webpage. I'll start posting the portfolio tomorrow. :D

Jeff said I am really hot tonight and he didn't mean it in a sexy way. LOL Think I've had a fever all day. Glad I decided to take it easy.

I'll check out your site again.

Hugs, Nancy

Jeff said I "was" really hot tonight. Caught a grammar mistake.

The writing is clearer now, Suzanne. :D Can you center your pages and then maybe have a light background? That would take care of the large white areas. I found my "center webpage" box today. Had to right click to find it. Took me all afternoon to figure it out. The widescreen monitors are harder to work with when it comes to postioning webpage material.

Hugs, Nancy

I like the wording of your cover page MUCH better, and the print does seem clearer. :)

Thanks for all your help, Nancy and Raine. I am working on all the different issues you have mentioned. In the weekend I will make it a bit bigger for those with a different resolution.
Nancy, I didn't know how to centre the page so thanks and I will go a hunting for that function.
Now I know what you mean about too much white space, Raine. That puzzled me because I thought you meant inside the website but I've understood now that it is outside the site.
Nancy, have you seen Raine's enormous, gorgeous backyard on her blog. It's to die for.
Look after yourself and take care of that hotness.
Okay, back in I go to do a couple of quick fixes to the website.

I like it, Suzanne. I especially enjoyed reading your travel synopses! Well done...
Some of the graphics seem to load slowly (and I have a pretty fast computer). You might want to check the size of some of those files?

(Back home again after a WONDERFUL trip!)

Thanks, Heather. I'll check the size of the files.
Good to hear you're back home safe and sound. I'll drop by your blog to see what you have been up to.
